Himachal witnessed 306 leopard attacks on human in last decade

June 11, 2015 - SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh has witnessed 306 cases of Leopards attack on humans during last 10 years. In few pockets in Shimla, Mandi and Hamirpur districts 219 cases of mauling were reported in last seven years. Wildlife officials claim that there has been decline in leopards attacks on humans. According to a decade old survey there are around 700 Leopards in Himachal Pradesh.

In a bid to reduce the man-animal conflict now the state wild life department is making efforts to create awareness among people and to carry out sensitization programmes all over the state on issues of man-animal conflict and to ensure peaceful co-existence of leopards with humans.

Bison Attacks, Injures 62-Year Old Aussie Visitor At Yellowstone National Park

June 3, 2015 - Wyoming - A bison at the Yellowstone National Park attacked on Tuesday a 62-year-old Australian man who came too near the animal. The victim was just three to five feet away from the bison. It was the second incident of a bison attack in the park in less than one month. Full report

American woman killed in lion attack in South African park

June 1, 2015 - JOHANNESBURG (AP) — A lion killed an American woman and injured a man driving through a private wildlife park in Johannesburg on Monday, a park official said.

The attack occurred at around 2:30 p.m. when a lioness approached the passenger side of the vehicle as the woman took photos and then lunged, said Scott Simpson, assistant operations manager at the Lion Park.

"They had their windows all the way down, which is strictly against policy," he said. "The lion bit the lady through the window." The driver then tried to punch the lion and was scratched by the animal. Full report

Man bitten by shark on Sullivan’s Island

May 15, 2015 - Sullivan's Island, SC - According to town officials, Sullivan’s Island Fire and Rescue personnel responded to an incident at 2:15 p.m., Friday, May 15, on the beach at Station 18 1/2 where a 30-year-old male was bitten by a shark. The victim sustained injuries to his foot and was transported by EMS to a Mount Pleasant hospital for stitches, but otherwise he appeared to be in good condition. Full report>
