Authorities shot and killed a mountain lion that was hiding in the backyard of a Los Gatos home Monday night. The animal had been seen several times in the area around the 14000 block of Lora Drive, where it was killed Monday evening, said state Department of Fish and Game spokesman Harry Morse. He said police and a Fish and Game warden had decided to shoot the cat after determining it was posed a public safety risk, as the neighborhood includes a large apartment complex where children play outside.
