AAF EXTRA: Cougars Return to Eastern Canada

October 1, 2011 - Quebec, Canada - In 1938, Quebec’s last known cougar was caught by a trapper along the Maine-Quebec border. According to local wildlife researchers, the big cats were not seen in the province for at least 60 years after that, leading people to believe that by the 1980s cougars were either extinct in Quebec or close to it.

But, numerous sightings in recent years – including a cougar attack on a horse near Lac Brome in July – have researchers’ attention. Full Report
