Bear Attacks New Jersey Golfer

Hardyston, NJ - July 4, 2006 - At 9:45 a.m. on June 29, George Petta was working as a groundskeeper near the 17th hole of the golf course course at Crystal Springs Resort. He turned to see a large bear standing right next to him. Petta was scratched on the face, but was able to return to work later the same day.

Craig Worts, the Crystal Springs Golf Club's superintendent, later said, "Don't go looking for your ball in the woods if you don't have to."
